Pittsburgh’s Heather Kropf has forged a reputation as a talented, dedicated songwriter and performer, producing albums with attention to detail that feature some of the city’s best players. Her training in classical piano shines through as she deftly weaves folk and jazz influences into pop songs that capture the complex beauty of modern life, the awakening soul, and romance.

Her most recent album Lights was recorded with producer/multi-instrumentalist Lex Price and includes an all-star cast of players, from Tim Young (Beck, Fiona Apple) and Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves), to Steve Moore (Laura Veirs, Sufjan Stevesn) and Joshua Grange (Sheryl Crow, Lera Lynn). Anchored by her warm and inviting tone, Price develops Kropf’s signature sound of spacious, understated indie pop, but with new insight, a soothing atmospheric palette, and emotional honesty.

Lights was noted as a Best Album of the Year by TribLIVE (2017), and nominated for Best Media & Entertainment Project of the Year (2018) by the Pittsburgh Creative Industries Network.

Kropf is currently performing in Pittsburgh with her trio, and touring a new show of spoken word and music created with writer/performing artist, Michelle Milne, called We Know There Are Oceans: A Travelogue.
