It was in the summer of 2014 when I first broached the subject of recording what became this album. I had a collection of songs that I knew I couldn’t produce. What’s more, I didn’t want to. I wanted to make an album where I got to be only the the songwriter and have the experience of receiving an album that was essentially crafted by someone else.
It took me until the fall of 2015 until I knew what the precise elements of this and found producer Lex Price, an extremely gifted and personable multi-instrumentalist and producer. The project was put on hold suddenly, and right when I was thinking this album would never happen, it just as suddenly came alive again in the summer of 2016. Over the course of a few weeks in the fall of 2016, Lights took form.
Since then, it has been a winding journey. Today, I am happy to share that this is the official add date for #Lights at radio stations, worldwide. Over the past 5 years I have learned so much - the pace and journey of this project has baffled and humbled and delighted me - and I’m going to love every little moment and gesture of its continued unfolding. It’s a beautiful day in Pittsburgh.
